Kyoto Animation (京都アニメーション or 株式会社京都アニメーション, Kyōto Animēshon), abbreviated KyoAni (京アニ), is a Japanese animation studio located in Uji, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. It was founded in 1981 and only made their own anime series starting in 2007. They are the producers of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya anime. On July 18, 2019, Shinji Aoba set Kyoto Animation ablaze, killing about 33-36 members and injuring 33 others. Luckily, the directors survived.
