Wish is the seventh episode of The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan.
Plot[]
Haruhi decides that the Literature Club will have their training camp at a hot springs, which she justifies to the faculty as a journey in self-growth which they will document with travel journals. So that they can all relax and enjoy the trip, she writes everyone's travel journal in advance. Yuki is grateful to Haruhi, but Ryoko is troubled and confronts Haruhi in private. She tells Haruhi about Kyon's feeding Yuki (in "Over the Obento") and says that in light of this she fears that the hot springs trip will enable a sexual encounter to occur between Kyon and Yuki. Against Haruhi's advice, she insists on monitoring Kyon and Yuki throughout the trip.
Meeting at a cafe, they draw straws to determine who sits next to who on the train, only to find that all seven seats are in close proximity to each other. They stop by the temple, but spend most of their time there perusing the food stands and souvenir shops. Haruhi exposes herself to vast amounts of insence smoke in order to increase her physical strength, and Yuki makes a wish that she will stay good friends with the entire group forever.

Differences from manga version[]
The manga version leaves the reader with the implication that Yuki's wish was to be with Kyon romantically. The anime version added in the twist ending where it is revealed that she actually wished for the whole Literature Club to remain her friends forever.
The sequence where Yuki picks up a charm for healthy childbirth does not appear in the manga version.
Trivia[]
- When Haruhi questions Ryoko's suggestion that Kyon feeding Yuki is more troubling than their being in each other's arms, Ryoko's response is significantly different between the dubbed and subtitled versions. In the dubbed version, Ryoko submits to Haruhi's reasoning, agreeing that Kyon feeding Yuki was most likely a platonic, friendly gesture. In the subtitled version, she instead points out that Kyon feeding Yuki is more troubling because it could not have happened by accident, suggesting that she does not think it could have been platonic.
- Had Yuki or Ryoko been paying attention during the drawing for seat assignments on the train, they would have realized that it was determined that Yuki would not be sitting next to Kyon even before she drew her straw. It is clearly shown that Yuki drew from the last three straws. Since Haruhi was holding the straws, the final straw would have been hers, and the other remaining straw must have been Ryoko's, since she was too busy daydreaming to draw yet. This means that both Kyon and Mikuru, who got the seat next to Kyon, had already drawn. Strangely, Haruhi (who certainly must have been paying attention to the drawing) does not point this out to Ryoko and Yuki during their subsequent discussion on the train, suggesting that the show's creators did not think the whole drawing through.
- Although the episode does not show Mikuru, Ryoko, or Haruhi drawing their straws, it can be pieced together that the Literature Club members drew in the following order: Kyon, Itsuki (heard drawing immediately after Kyon draws), Mikuru, Tsuruya (heard drawing immediately before Yuki draws), Yuki, Ryoko, Haruhi. The third straw is drawn during Ryoko's daydreaming, but can be identified as Mikuru's by process of elimination.
